Community Leadership

CAC Community Leadership Training Opportunity

CAC’s Community Leadership provides servant-leadership training for current and emerging leaders representing low and moderate–income neighborhoods and groups.  This year begins the 34th year of CAC’s community leadership with a legacy of over 1,200 local leaders graduating. Over the years, each has shared unique perspectives and experiences to encourage discourse and action to enrich our collective community.

The objectives of CAC’s Community Leadership are to:

  • Strengthen the capacity for leadership at the grassroots and community level.
  • Create a learning atmosphere that crosses economic, social, racial and demographic lines.
  • Acquaint participants to become more involved in community affairs.

Community Leadership sessions introduce participants to City, County, and neighborhood leaders from our local government, school system, local economy, news and media, non-profit sectors, and experts in community-wide current issues. The program is held in-person, once a month from September 2023 – June 2024, with half-day sessions. Applications are accepted year round and participant selections will be made in August.

Annually, CAC selects about thirty participants for the program.  Participants will be chosen from people who live, work or volunteer in low to moderate income communities throughout Knox County.  Key factors in the selection process will be the interest and demonstrated community commitment of each potential participant.  Those selected to participate will be asked to commit one day each month to the training program during its duration.  All sessions are free. There are no costs to participate due to local sponsorship.
