CAC has an immediate need for a full-time Disability Resource Coordinator to primarily be responsible for working with customers with disabilities and coordinating service delivery in conjunction with the agency’s designation as an Employment Network. The Disability Resource Coordinator is responsible for meeting the outcomes of the Ticket to Work program.

Qualifications: include graduation from an accredited college, at least two years of related work experience and strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the education requirement.

Salary: $37,557.00 ($19.26 per hour). Job Title: Disability Resource Coordinator

Summary: This is a professional level position under general supervision and reports to the Assistant Director of Social Services/Workforce Development. The position is primarily responsible for working with customers with disabilities and coordinating service delivery throughout the East TN region in conjunction with the agency’s designation as an Employment Network. The Disability Resource Coordinator is responsible for meeting the outcomes of the Ticket to Work program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as point of contact for the Partnership Plus Agreement.
  • Uses appropriate individual and group counseling techniques to assist individuals with career decisions and career  development planning.
  • Assists customers with preparing service plans geared toward employment and self-sufficiency.
  • Assists individuals with disabilities in use of American Job Center services and links individuals with disabilities to other appropriate community services as needed.
  • Maintains a designated case load including file maintenance and on-going follow-up to enrolled participants.
  • Provide clients that obtain employment with supportive services such as transportation, work clothing, necessary tools, and safety equipment to enable a successful transition into the workplace.
  • Establishes strategies to enhance key partnerships and collaborations to produce more effective and efficient services across multiple systems.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations and policies to maintain Employment Network status.
  • Tracks employment-related milestones utilizing resources provided by the Social Security Administration and Ticket to Work systems.
  • Utilizes Ticket Portal to request payments from the Social Security Administration.
  • Coordinates with CAC programs to provide Ticket to Work services to eligible participants.
  • Collaborates with workforce development partners and community stakeholders on specialized projects/grants that will enhance the delivery of workforce services.
  • Collects and provides information on labor market needs, educational opportunities, employment resources, and support services to customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of the mission of the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee and the Ticket to Work program.
  • Knowledge of counseling, career development, and job retention theories and techniques, including impact of cultural values and the unique career planning needs of people with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of labor market information, education, training, and career resources.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Knowledge of job accommodations and assistive technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet customer needs by providing extended hour services, including evenings and weekends.
  • Computer literate.

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in education, social work, human services, public or business administration, or related field and at least one year of progressively responsible related work experience. An equivalent combination of related work experience and education may be substituted for the education requirement.
