This position involves maintaining general cleanliness and upkeep of CAC facilities to include cleaning offices, lobby, activity areas, restrooms, parking areas, steps, and sidewalks; moving furniture and setting up for meetings; removing debris from grounds; assisting with visitors and participants as needed; and assisting skilled custodians in the maintenance of floors and carpets and with performing minor repairs. This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. Work performed is primarily second shift (5:00 pm – 12:30 am Monday through Friday evenings).
Qualifications: Must have a pleasant personality, a good prior work record, and be in good physical condition. Must be able to follow basic instructions. Prior custodial or building maintenance experience preferred
Salary: $25,311 (12.98 per hour) with excellent benefits including employer paid health insurance, life insurance, contributions to pension plan, co-pay dental insurance, vacation days, sick leave and generous holidays.

Job Title: Custodian
Summary: An employee in this classification reports directly to the Custodial Services Supervisor and is under the supervision of the Director of Housing and Energy Services. This position requires maintaining the general cleanliness and upkeep of the facility to include cleaning offices, lobby, activity areas, restrooms, parking areas, steps, and sidewalks; moving of furniture; removing debris from grounds; assisting with visitors and participants; and assisting skilled custodians in the maintenance of floors and carpets and with performing minor repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Custodial Services Supervisor, assists in the maintenance of tile floors to include sweeping, mopping, waxing, and buffing.
- Empty trash and straighten and dust lounge, lobby, offices, and activity areas.
- Vacuums hallways, offices, and classrooms.
- Clean and disinfect restroom sinks, commodes, stalls, and floors, ensuring that soap, paper towel, and toilet tissue containers are checked and refilled. Clean drinking fountains.
- Remove litter from grounds and parking lot and maintain steps and walks.
- Perform room set-up for meetings.
- Move tables, chairs, and other furniture and items as required.
- Assist with visitors and participants as required.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Knowledge and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Must be physically able to perform a variety of custodial duties.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 100 pounds.
- Knowledgeable about the safe use and care of a variety of equipment and tools to include vacuum, buffer, mop, broom, carpet cleaner, paint brushes, and assorted hand-held tools.
- Knowledgeable about the use and storage of cleansing agents, fuels, paint, and other toxic agents.
- Ability to work well with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
- Dependability and an excellent time and attendance record are essential.
